     E. Sample #1: Paper Magazine
Paper magazine is an example of a high fashion, editorial fashion magazine. The magazine is very much image-based and aims to be visually appealing, sometimes even visually disturbing. The cover always features a model in eccentric, extravagant clothing, striking a strange but visually appealing pose. The cover model is usually a celebrity of a model with a high status in the fashion world. The cover also features bright colors to draw readers in, and creative image concepts that persuade people to open the magazine and see more. There is usally minimal to no cover lines as the main focus is the model, sometimes the cover photo is even a close up of the model’s face.  While there are written pieces within the magazine, a majority of the content is visual and relies on being aesthetically pleasing, and is catered to those more interested in fashion. The clothing featured is often very expensive and exclusive.

     F. Sample #2: TeenVogue Magazine
Because this magazine is catered towards a younger demographic, and young adults in general, not just this solely interested in fashion, it contains a more equal distribution of written and visual content. The cover of this magazine features more cover lines that advertise articles in the magazine in an attempt to persuade people to open it. The cover model is more likely to be a celebrity than a high-fashion model and is often smiling or more carefree than models in high-fashion magazines. This magazine features advice columns and styling tips, especially those based off of celebrities’ style. The magazine also built an online presence to advertise their print edition while also maintaining a strong online brand. The clothing featured in this magazine is more affordable and therefore their audience is more likely to by the garments featured on the model.

Let's do this

Hey!

Welcome to what will likely be an equally exciting and stressful whirlwind of emotions. I am Nyah Hardmon, a south Florida highschool senior taking a course in AICE Media studies. As a supplement for this course, I was tasked with creating my own media source- a magazine. This blog will document my journey in creating my own magazine from scratch. I will fill you in on every step in the magazine-making process from beginning to end, and every up and down in between. Hope you stick along for the ride; I promise, it'll be worth it -  at least I hope so.
